Wivelsfield Little Theatre is an amateur dramatics group in Sussex, active since 1964. They produce two main shows every year, as well as various other performances. They have a thriving social side, and are always keen for new people to get involved both on and off the stage.

Blackadder Goes Forth

Wednesday 11th - Saturday 14th November 2026

Written by the brilliant Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, Blackadder Goes Forth remains one of Britain's greatest comedy series - just as hilarious today as it was when it first aired in 1989. Set in the trenches of the First World War, this amateur production brings to life three classic episodes: Captain Cook, Major Star and the unforgettable Goodbyeee.

Expect cynical one-liners, outrageous misunderstandings and wonderfully eccentric characters that made the series legendary. Amid the mud, mayhem and absurdity of wartime, join the brilliantly scheming Captain Blackadder, the hopelessly dim—but fiercely loyal—Private Baldrick, the charmingly naïve Lieutenant George, the booming General Melchett, the wonderfully twitchy Captain Darling, the not-so-convincing "Bob", and, of course, the ever-busy Field Marshal Haig.

Hilarious, poignant and deeply moving, Blackadder Goes Forth remains a timeless tribute to the human spirit in the face of war.

Wivelsfield Little Theatre welcomes new members of all ages, backgrounds, interests and experience. 

Every production relies on a wide range of talents both onstage and behind the scenes, so whether you’re keen to tread the boards, design sets, help with costumes, get involved with lighting and sound, or anything else, there’s a place for you in this friendly amateur dramatics society.

Beyond the shows, WLT enjoys a lively social calendar and publishes The Revue, a twice‑yearly members only magazine. You don’t need to be interested in performing or backstage work to get involved — there are plenty of ways to become part of the WLT community.
